Bowling Lanes Maintenance, Cleaning And Parts

From a quick glance, you might think that a bowling lane is just that: a strip of long wood where you can roll the bowling ball over and watch it hit the pins.

While you might be right about most of it, there is actually more to the bowling lane than that.

The bowling lane consists of several long wooden boards. Joined together, they total a length of 75 feet, with a width of 3.5 feet.

The planes are, for all purposes, smooth. Those who construct them make sure to smoothen each wooden board before and after they connect them together. Once that's done, they apply some smoothing chemicals on the joined boards, after which they use some polishing techniques to give it that extra shine.

The lane itself is composed of two parts: the approach area and the playing lane. Starting from the edge of the lane, the approach area extends 15 feet to the foul line. This is the area the bowling players use when they take a shot.

The playing lane is also separated into two parts: the painted area, and the ball rolling area. The painted area is the area within 15 feet beyond the foul line. This area contains painted arrows, which indicate measurements on the lane. These painted arrows are also smoothed by floor polishing. Players drop the bowling balls in this area during each shot.

Generally, the bowling is composed of two parts called the approach area and the playing lane. The approach area is the 15-foot area from where the lane starts to the foul line. Players use this area to drop the ball when they make a shot.

The bowling lane requires thorough maintenance. Any particles or disfigurements on the wood would definitely affect a player's shot. Therefore, the bowling lane must be cleaned regularly. Only trained personnel should do the cleaning because the lane is sensitive to scratches. Trained personnel wear special shoes to avoid damaging the lane. They usually use soft brooms, dry wiping material, smoothing chemicals, and polishing materials.

The playing lane is further separated into two parts: the painted area and the ball rolling area. The painted area covers the area that is 15 feet beyond the foul line. Painted arrows mark this area indicating lane measurements. Like the lanes, these arrows are also smoothed and polished.

The 75-foot bowling lane is separated into three parts: the 15-foot approach area, the 15-foot arrows area, and the 45-foot rolling area.

All in all, the bowling lane is composed of several parts. It is no wonder then that this area is considered one of the most important parts of a bowling alley.By: HispanicArticle Directory: http://www.articledashboard.comI found out during one of our bowling nights that there are a couple of ways to clean and maintain Bowling Lanes which requires thorough maintenance.
